As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve plays a crucial role in the operation of International Navistar DT466 and DT570 engines from 2003-2008. This component helps in reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by recirculating a portion of the engine's exhaust gases back into the intake manifold. Understanding its function can help in maintaining the engine's efficiency and compliance with emission standards.
Key Functions of the EGR Valve:
- Emission Reduction
- The primary purpose of the EGR valve is to reduce NOx emissions, which are harmful pollutants produced during the combustion process.
- Temperature Control
- By recirculating exhaust gases, the EGR valve helps lower the combustion temperature, which in turn reduces the formation of NOx.
- Fuel Efficiency
- Proper functioning of the EGR valve can contribute to improved fuel efficiency by optimizing the combustion process.
How It Works:
- Opening and Closing
- The EGR valve opens and closes to allow a specific amount of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold.
- Mixing with Fresh Air
- The exhaust gases mix with the incoming fresh air, diluting it and lowering the overall oxygen concentration in the combustion chamber.
- Combustion Process
- This mixture leads to a cooler combustion process, reducing the peak combustion temperature and the formation of NOx.
Symptoms of a Faulty EGR Valve:
- Rough Idling
- A malfunctioning EGR valve can cause the engine to idle roughly or stall.
- Decreased Power
- You may notice a drop in engine power and responsiveness.
- Check Engine Light
- The vehicle's onboard diagnostic system may trigger the check engine light if the EGR valve is not functioning correctly.
Regular maintenance and timely replacement of the EGR valve, such as the OEM 1842593C92 for International Navistar DT466 and DT570 engines, ensure optimal engine durability and adherence to emission standards.
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is a crucial component in diesel engines, ensuring that emissions are kept within acceptable limits. When the EGR valve fails, it can lead to a variety of symptoms that affect your vehicle's operation.
Common Symptoms of a Failed EGR Valve:
- Engine Issues
- A faulty EGR valve can cause your engine to run poorly. This might manifest as a rough idle, stalling, or a general lack of power while driving.
- Check Engine Light
- One of the most apparent signs is the illumination of the check engine light. This light can be triggered by a variety of issues, but an EGR valve problem is a common cause.
- Poor Fuel Economy
- If the EGR valve is not functioning correctly, it can lead to decreased fuel efficiency, causing your vehicle to consume more fuel than usual.
- Increased Emissions
- A failing EGR valve may result in increased exhaust emissions, which can lead to failing an emissions test.
- Knocking or Pinging Sounds
- Unusual sounds coming from your engine, such as knocking or pinging, can indicate that the EGR valve is not operating correctly.
Detailed Symptoms:
- Rough Idle
- The engine may struggle to maintain a steady idle.
- Loss of Power
- Acceleration may feel sluggish or unresponsive.
- Increased Smoke
- You might notice more smoke from the exhaust, indicating poor combustion.
Recognizing these symptoms early can prevent further damage to your engine. If you suspect your EGR valve is failing, consider consulting a professional for a thorough inspection and potential replacement.
Yes, it can disrupt exhaust recirculation and cause irregular engine function or warning lights.
The valve is electronically controlled by the engine’s ECM based on temperature and load conditions.
Yes, carbon buildup can restrict valve movement and lead to erratic engine idle.
Yes, improper valve operation may alter combustion conditions and lead to excess exhaust heat.
