Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The exhaust manifold is a critical component in your vehicle's exhaust system, responsible for collecting exhaust gases from the engine cylinders and directing them into the exhaust pipe. A malfunctioning exhaust manifold can lead to several performance issues and potential engine damage. Understanding the symptoms of a bad exhaust manifold can help you address problems early and maintain your vehicle's efficiency.

Symptoms of a Bad Exhaust Manifold

  • Exhaust Leaks

    • One of the most common signs of a failing exhaust manifold is an exhaust leak. This can often be heard as a hissing or tapping noise, especially during a cold start or acceleration. The sound indicates that exhaust gases are escaping from the manifold before reaching the exhaust pipe.

  • Decreased Engine Performance

    • A compromised exhaust manifold can negatively impact engine performance. You may notice a reduction in power, sluggish acceleration, and overall poor engine responsiveness. This is because the engine cannot efficiently expel exhaust gases, leading to reduced efficiency.

  • Increased Emissions

    •  A leaking exhaust manifold can cause the vehicle to emit higher levels of pollutants. This happens because the exhaust gases bypass the catalytic converter, which is responsible for reducing harmful emissions. As a result, you might fail an emissions test.

  • Burning Smell

    • If the exhaust manifold gasket is damaged, it can allow hot exhaust gases to leak and come into contact with other engine components. This can produce a noticeable burning smell, which is a clear indication that something is wrong.

  • Check Engine Light

    • A failing exhaust manifold can trigger the check engine light. This light can be caused by various factors, including an oxygen sensor detecting irregular exhaust flow or a significant change in the engine's performance metrics. Diagnostic trouble codes can help pinpoint the issue.

  • Visible Damage

    • In some cases, you might be able to see visible cracks or damage on the exhaust manifold. Regular visual inspections can help you identify such issues early before they lead to more severe problems.

Addressing Exhaust Manifold Issues

  • Timely Repairs

    • If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned, it is crucial to have your vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic. Timely repairs can prevent further damage to the engine and exhaust system.

  • Regular Maintenance

    • Regularly checking the exhaust system as part of your vehicle's maintenance routine can help detect issues early. This includes inspecting the manifold, gaskets, and other related components.

  • Quality Replacements

    • When replacing a damaged exhaust manifold, ensure you use high-quality parts. This can enhance durability and prevent future issues.

A bad exhaust manifold can lead to a range of problems, including exhaust leaks, decreased engine performance, increased emissions, burning smells, and the check engine light activating.
